The Plan for Case-spiration Moving Forward

Welcome Back, Fellow Case Writers!
I know what you're thinking: "Where the heck have you been for the past two months?"
Fair question. Here's the honest answer: I didn't have anything worth saying.
You see, I've always believed that if you're going to take up someone's time, especially the time of busy educators and professionals like yourselves, you better have something valuable to offer. And for the past couple of months, while I've been deep in the weeds experimenting and learning, I didn't feel like I had reached that "aha moment" worth sharing.
But that changes today.
What I've Been Up To
While the newsletter went quiet, I certainly didn't. Here's what's been keeping me busy:
Deep AI Integration Experiments: I've pushed my AI conversation count well past 30,000+ interactions now (yes, I keep track). More importantly, I've been testing AI tools in ways that go far beyond content creation. Think curriculum design, assessment development, and even student engagement strategies that adapt in real-time.
Real-World Testing: I've been collaborating with different institutions to implement some of the frameworks we've discussed in previous newsletters. The results? Mixed, but fascinating. Some approaches that looked brilliant on paper fell flat in practice, while others exceeded expectations in ways I never anticipated.
The "Failure File": Perhaps most valuable of all, I've been documenting what doesn't work. Spoiler alert: there's a lot. But each failure has taught me something crucial about where AI fits and where it absolutely doesn't in education.
What's Changing
Moving forward, you can expect the newsletter to arrive 1-2 times per month instead of the previous bi-weekly schedule. Why the change? Because I'd rather send you something meaningful monthly than something mediocre every two weeks.
Here's what you can expect in upcoming issues:
Real Implementation Stories: No more theoretical discussions. I'll be sharing actual case studies using of AI use in classrooms both the wins and the spectacular failures.
Tool Deep Dives: Instead of surface-level overviews, we'll dig into specific AI tools with hands-on tutorials and practical applications you can implement immediately.
The Human Element: Here's what I've learned over the past few months: the more we integrate AI, the more crucial human skills become. We'll explore how to strengthen these alongside our technical capabilities.
A Question for You
Before I dive into the next phase of content, I want to hear from you. What's your biggest challenge right now when it comes to integrating AI into your educational practice? What questions keep you up at night? What experiments are you running?
Hit reply and let me know. I read every response, and your insights often spark the direction for future newsletters.

Coming Up Next
The next issue will dive deep into my recently published paper, "Curating Truth or Simulating Thought? The Ethics of AI-Generated Case Studies in Business Education" (Journal of Ethics in Entrepreneurship and Technology). The research emerged from that moment of existential unease I mentioned earlier—when I first used AI to generate a case study and realized I was no longer the "author" in the traditional sense.
The paper introduces two practical frameworks born from real classroom experience: the Curated Authorship Model (which maps the four phases of ethical human-AI collaboration) and the 4W's Ethical Framework (a reflective tool for evaluating what you gain, lose, neglect, and access when using AI in education).
I'll break down how these frameworks are already changing the way educators approach AI integration—and more importantly, I'll show you exactly how to apply them in your own practice. Because the real question isn't "Can AI write my case studies?" It's "If AI can simulate thought, what does it mean to teach thinking?"
Thanks for sticking with me through the quiet period. Sometimes the best insights come from knowing when to stop talking and start listening.
Until next time,
Matthew
P.S. The Case-spiration in Print 2024 edition is still available on Amazon for those who missed it. But I'm already planning something even better for 2025—stay tuned.
