Case-spiration: Real Inspiration

Move beyond the unknown use AI and start to “Control the Control-ables”

Hey Friends,

Welcome and thanks for giving some time and attention to this post.

I am going to give you my first Success Story with AI, some case study examples to download and my approach with using AI.

Take it or Leave it!

Lets Start!

The Case-spiration Newsletter is the only place where you learn about how to practically use AI as part of your case writing process BUT what could this look like in Reality?

Like you, my first experience interacting with AI was exciting, scary, perplexing and humbling to say the least.

After I moved through the cycle of grief thinking about how my students would challenge my view of integrity in the classroom, I started to think optimistically focusing on this one Phrase, “ Control the Control-ables”.

So why care about what I am saying?

I am just like you, and have had the same fears and excitement!

I am just thousands of conversations ahead of you.

I am trying to help you move beyond the unknown use AI and start to “Control the Control-ables”

High-level

Very early on, I learned that using AI was going to require learning a new language - “ Learning the Language of AI”. This meant that I needed to figure out what this tool could do and then, how I could repeated results over and over again.

Over the past year and half I stopped counting at over 25,000 interactive prompts and over 10,000 conversations with AI.

My first success with using AI - specifically ChatGPT was in January, 2023 writing 3 months worth of code in 3 hours. I was hooked!

Then over the next few hundred prompts and hundreds of conversations with ChatGPT, I soon realized that:

  1. This tool would change how I worked because it allowed me to generate ideas / examples / iterations so quickly that I would be a fool to not invest more time Learning the Language of AI.

  2. This tool would soon be paid and I needed to extract as much out of it as possible.

  3. This new workflow was a Dangerous Slope if I did not know the end result I was working towards - Vetting and Validating

  4. and the list goes on…..

Summing it up. I have adopted the USE of AI in my Workflow for SOME things, not all.

I use it for creating content, iterating on new concepts and ideas, ANALYSIS, ANALYSIS and more ANALYSIS - Bouncing Ideas etc.

So how does this link to Case Studies?

The Tutorials, Lessons and Content I am sharing is focused on Case Studies because my first major educational break-through using AI was creating Case Study Exams.

I soon found out that with AI, you can:

  • Write any case you like about any scenario

  • Make the case align PERFECTLY to your learning outcomes

  • Make the case align PERFECTLY to any section of your course

  • Iterate a NEW version easily if the case was compromised by students

  • Generate ANY type of assessment tool for those cases

Below are some of the first cases that I wrote with AI for some of my classes.

The process I use is similar and what I am teaching you is my same process.

So why care about this?

Currently, it is true that the use of AI out weighs not using it (for me). Gone are the days of sitting back and doing it the traditional way.

Below are 9 concluding points I will leave you with.

  • Empowerment through Innovation: AI in education provides unprecedented opportunities for personalized learning, making education more accessible and tailored to individual needs.

  • Efficiency in Workflow: Leveraging AI can significantly streamline processes like content creation and analysis, saving valuable time and enhancing productivity.

  • Enhanced Creativity: AI serves as a powerful tool for brainstorming and iterating on new ideas, fostering a more creative and dynamic educational environment.

  • Customized Case Studies: The ability to craft case studies that align perfectly with learning outcomes and course objectives is a game-changer for educators.

  • Rapid Adaptation: AI enables quick iterations and updates to educational materials, ensuring they remain relevant and effective even in changing circumstances.

  • Ethical Considerations: Despite its benefits, AI also raises concerns around academic integrity and the potential for misuse. It's crucial to establish clear guidelines and ethical practices.

  • Data Privacy: The integration of AI in education necessitates careful consideration of data privacy and the protection of student information.

  • Skill Development: As AI becomes more integrated into education, learning the "Language of AI" is essential for both educators and students to maximize its potential effectively.

  • Balancing AI with Human Insight: While AI can enhance education, it should complement, not replace, the critical thinking and emotional intelligence that educators bring to the table.
